A homestead exemption is a tax break extended to residents who own and occupy their primary residence.  This exemption reduces the parish tax liability on the first $7,500 of the assessed value (or $75,000 of the market value).  Only one homestead exemption is granted even if you own multiple homes.  To learn more about the homestead exemption, see the St. Tammany Parish Assessor's Office.
